The Department of Finno-Ugristics and Historical Linguistics has been existing as one organizational unit of the institute since June 2008. Formerly its members had worked at the Department of Uralistics, and Department of Historical Linguistics and Dialectology. Consequently, the main researches belong to two major fields: Uralistics, and the history of Hungarian language.
