Due to the high costs involved in transferring money to our bank account, all participants will be requested to pay the registration fee in cash upon arrival at the registration desk. The registration desk will be open on August 23 between 14:00 and 16:00 at the Research Institute for Linguistics, Budapest. (The Institute's address and information on how to get there can be found here.)
Venue, transportation:
The symposium, following the tradition of the first meetings in the 1980s, will take place in the Hungarian countryside, in a hotel with conference facilites, to provide the participants the possibility for discussion in a more informal setting. The venue of the 2006 symposium is Hotel Fauna, situated near Besenyőtelek, 120 km east of Budapest. Hotel Fauna is at the edge of the Lake Tisza region, the second biggest lake of Hungary, offering plenty of opportunities for eco-tourism (with a bird nature reserve) and for a more traditional vacation.
Getting to the conference location:
There will be a bus taking participants to the conference site from the Research Institute for Linguistics on the afternoon of August 23. The planned departure time is 16:00. If you know that you wont be able to make it to the Institute before the departure time, please let the organizers know about it. You can get to the railway station nearest to the conference site (Füzesabony) on direct trains leaving from Budapest Keleti Pályaudvar (East Station) in the direction of Eger or Miskolc. The timetable of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) can be found at www.elvira.hu. Since there is no public transport from Füzesabony to the conference site, the organizers will arrange for transport for those who come by train. If you know in advance that you will be taking the train, please let us know. In the event that you accidentally miss the bus on August 23, we will provide you with phone numbers of the organizers who can help you arrange your transport to the conference site. The telephone number of the hotel is 441 634 if calling from Füzesabony, 06 36 441 634 if calling from Budapest, and +36 36 441 634 if calling from abroad.
Accommodation:
In Hotel Fauna, accommodation for the conference participants will be in single rooms each having their own bathroom. If you wish to share a room with another participant, please let us know when you send your registration information. Partners not attending the conference and children are also welcome. (Please ask us for details if you are interested in such possibilities.)
Birdwatching tour (optional):
If there are enough interested participants (at least four), we will organize a birdwatching tour on the early morning of August 26 between 6:00 and 9:00), led by an English-speaking expert. The price of this program is not included in the registration fee and can be expected to be between 30 and 60 EUR per person, depending on the number of participants. The tour leaders unfortunately cannot provide binoculars, so please bring your own if you do not want to be left out of the fun!
If you have any questions concerning the above information please let us know.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Hungary!
