Kádár Zoltán Dániel "Lendület" kutatásának rövid angol nyelvű összefoglalása:
The project aims to explore the interface that exists between interpersonal
communication and ritual. In a technical sense, ritual is an interpersonal
action through which social groups maintain what they perceive as the normative
order of things. The notion of ritual thus not only involves scripted texts,
such as prayers, as the popular understanding of 'ritual' indicates', but rather
it covers a broad set of social interactions in ordinary social life. For
example, 'appropriately' conducting a business transaction, mediating between
conflictive parties, and intervening in a scene of public injustice are all
ritual actions. Certain rituals, such as collegial rites of passage in the
workplace, are interpreted as constructive parts of a person's life, while other
rituals such as expelling an inept community member tend to be regarded as a
'necessary' evil; both relationally constructive and destructive rituals tend to
be endorsed by a community, and the performer of a ritual animates the voice of
the community. While people tend to take the characteristics of such ritual
actions for granted, rituals tend to operate significantly differently across
cultures, and often seemingly similar ritual actions animate different moral
orders. Ritual is thus highly important from interactional and intercultural
perspectives, and yet this phenomenon has not been extensively studied from an
intercultural angle. The examination of ritual opens up new theoretical vistas
in pragmatics and intercultural communication, and could have an important
impact potential, specifically, as its exploration could reveal information
about certain intercultural misunderstandings within and across national
cultures. The present project aims to address this knowledge gap. The results of
the project will not only be relevant to academic experts, but also to
stakeholders and policy makers in the public education sector. In the project we
plan to examine both national cultures (e.g. Chinese, Hungarian) and other
layers of culture, such as minority cultures (viz. that of Romani minority). További részletek a Lendület program idei nyerteseiről az MTA honlapján olvashatók.
